Overcome Insecurity

Posted on February 5 2013 by Ricky World in education

Insecurity can become a debilitating problem. Feelings of insecurity can influence your health, sense of well-being, your ability to parent, to do your job, have a happy marriage, and can negatively affect all your relationships. The good news is that you can significantly improve your sense of security, your self esteem, and confidence. Most people have some degree of insecurity and that sense of insecurity can increase at different times in their lives depending on life circumstances. Here are some helpful suggestions on how you can improve your self esteem and sense of security.
It helps if you understand the root cause of your insecurity. To begin with start noticing when and under what circumstances you feel insecure. Some insecurities are normal like public speaking, starting a new job, or going into surgery. Don't be too concerned about these passing feelings unless they are extreme. In case of extreme insecurity seek help from a qualified professional.
During times when you feel your insecurity E20-324 Exam Questions is inappropriate you can ask yourself some key questions. For example, if you feel insecure around people, the next time you have those feelings slow yourself down and ask yourself the following: 1) What exactly is happening that is making me feel this way? 2) How do I react? What patterns of behavior do I have in those moments? 3) When in the past did I feel this way? 4) When in the distant past (childhood) did I feel this way? The answers to these questions will give you the starting point on what you need to do to improve your sense of security.
Once you have identified your feelings and what exactly makes you feel insecure then you can take the next step. Remember that your feelings are not new. They have probably been around for some time, perhaps even for years. You are likely reacting to circumstances that happened long ago and that set a pattern of behavior that you unconsciously carried forward.
Here is an example: One of my clients (I'm a hypnotherapist) reported that she felt overwhelmingly insecure 156-215.75 Exam Questions when she gave a dinner party for her husband's clients. She would break out in a cold sweat. Her heart would race. Her stomach would get upset. She would feel overwhelmed and suffer through the entire event feeling miserable. When she came to see me for help in this matter I asked her the questions you see above in this article. She was surprised and empowered to discover her answers. She realized that she felt particularly uncomfortable when she was setting the table and preparing the living room for guests. Her insecurity caused her to blame her husband for not contributing to the effort.
She accused him of being a slouch and making her do all the work. This unfortunate pattern had expanded to blaming her husband for many things. When asked when she felt her insecurity in the past she recalled her life as a child. Her mother was poor and had to take on two jobs since her father was long gone and gave no financial support to the family. When she invited her more well off friends over she would feel a debilitating shame at how the house looked. Since her mother was overwhelmed with trying to support the family the house was often in disarray. As a child my client felt like the family poverty reflected on her. She carried this shame forward into her adult years. Her insecurity about giving her husband's clients dinner parties was directly related to her childhood experience. When my client realized all this she immediately realized that her reactions were no longer appropriate. She began making the mental adjustments and she became more tolerant and kinder to her husband.
Remember that your insecurities may not be what they seem. Break down your feelings. Become aware of what exactly causes you to feel the way you feel and identify how you react. Then find where in the past those feelings and reactions originate. You will probably find that your insecurities originate in your childhood. Once you are aware of all these things you can change your basic attitudes about yourself, others, and your life circumstances. You will have raised your sense of security and self confidence.
