Low Self Esteem? Just Smile

Posted on February 4 2013 by Ricky World in education

Low self esteem often causes a great deal of depressive sadness. The trouble with that is that it can become a habit. So now you are generating more of what you've already got. The easiest way to break any habit is not just stop doing what you've been doing, that's pretty hard to do in many cases, but to replace it with a new habit. I'll just wind down the old habit as I'm bringing in the new one is not the way to go either. New habits are often direct opposites of the old habits so it's not practical to do both anyway.
So how do you replace a habit of low esteem based depressive sadness? The answer is just smile. I don't mean just now and again but all the time. Just putting a grin on your face feels stupid and embarrassing at first. Nor will you keep it up for long and probably not at all in public. Hopefully there are times of the day when you do have some time to yourself, even if you are just locked in the toilet. That's when you start. You can, quite literally, come out of the closet and smile in public when VCP-410 Exam Questions you've had a bit of practice.
To help you keep the right expression on your face try using a whiteboard type marker pen to help you. This is not used to draw a smile on your face but is to be held between your teeth crosswise so you are holding it at two points. You can use a pencil or any other similar shaped object. I said a marker pen for two reasons. It's a bit thicker than a pencil so will force your 'smile' up higher. When you take it out of your teeth, your facial muscles will feel more relaxed but can still be in a smile whereas the muscles will totally relax back into your sulky self when relaxing from just a pencils thickness. I think the plastic case of a marker pen is probably safer than the paint on a pencil as well,
Try smiling each day, with or without your mechanical aid of choice, for as long as possible. Here's why. During a long term test to discover if and why placebo's worked better than some drugs, it was discovered that the brain can generate its own dopamine. Dopamine is the 650-378 Exam Questions chemical that if lacking in humans can cause depression. From the same experiment we also know belief has a massive effect on how the brain functions. So if the facial muscles are in such a position that it leads the brain to belive "I'm happy" then the brain will generate dopamine to help support that feeling. Low self esteem will begin to raise when you are feeling happy all the time.
